Eight meetings that could shape where Mossel Bay grows
Public meetings on Mossel Bay’s 2027 Spatial Development Framework: D’Almeida 3 August, Mossel Bay 4 August, KwaNonqaba and Asla 5 August, Hartenbos 6 August, Dana Bay 11 August, Reebok 12 August and Great Brak River 13 August; all meetings from 18:00 to 19:00.
The municipality is preparing its 2027 Spatial Development Framework - the long-term document used to guide where and how the municipal area grows. That makes this more than an administrative notice: it can influence future settlement, development and land-use decisions.
The first meetings are D'Almeida on Monday, 3 August, Mossel Bay Town Hall on Tuesday, 4 August, KwaNonqaba and Asla on Wednesday, 5 August, and Hartenbos on Thursday, 6 August. The later sessions are Dana Bay on 11 August, Reebok on 12 August and Great Brak River on 13 August. Every meeting runs from 18:00 to 19:00.

Night ramp work is scheduled into the weekend
Night resurfacing around the Louis Fourie Road/Marsh Street on- and offramps began on Monday and was scheduled to run for one week, weather permitting. Work takes place from 18:00 to 05:00, with one ramp closed at a time and temporary signs directing motorists through the local road network.
Allow a little extra time if you are travelling through the area after dinner or before dawn.
Hartenbos heated pool reopens today
ATKV Hartenbos says the heated pool at the Hartenbos Seefront officially reopens on Friday, 31 July. The facility had been closed since September 2024 because of structural problems with the roof.
The reopening announcement does not publish current day-visitor hours or entrance fees, so check directly with ATKV before making a special trip.

Vleesbaai–Gouritsmond route is open again
The Gouritsmond Road and low-water bridge over the Gouritz River - linking the Vleesbaai Road with Gouritsmond - have reopened after nearly two months of flood repairs.
Sealing, road markings and danger plates were still being completed when the update was published, so slow down where crews, signs or unfinished work remain.

Handmade help for children in emergencies
The Great Brak River Community Policing Forum handed 145 handmade comfort dolls to EMS Chaplaincy Mossel Bay on 23 July. The dolls will be used to help comfort children facing trauma, fear or uncertainty during emergencies and other difficult situations.
